Greatness of Rama

I want to take it, he wants to give it.
But I cannot take it and he cannot give it.
That is how it is!

Elixir!!

We may not have found any elixir that magically cures all our acute, chronic, contagious diseases at once. But there is something which is no less than an elixir, which gives us innumerable benefits. Something which relaxes muscles, decreases pain, boosts immunity, prevents heart diseases, relieves tension/stress, eases anxiety,etc.. and more importantly its fun! Yes, a good laughter is like Elixir.

We all love the fun element, which explains the commercial success of sit-coms. We do get this medicine almost everywhere in the world, unless you are isolated and living in an island. We can extract fun out of any situation, with any number of people. They may not be friends, may not be of same age group. People mock each other only to burst into laughter.

There is always enough medicine left for us and we should always keep laughing and stay healthy :)

blah-blah!!

I was trying to improve my English vocabulary, then something crossed my mind! What are the total number of words in English language? Can we count the number of words in any language? How do people make dictionaries?

Oxford dictionary lists around 0.15 million English words, these words would have been compiled after a study of vast amount of literature. There are quite a few words which are derived from other languages, like Greek, French, German, etc. So, one needs to be Omniscient, Oh my god , its no small task!

If that is the case with modern English language alone, then how many words exist in this world, all languages put together? There are more than thousand recognized languages today like Spanish, French, Chinese, Japanese, Hindi, Urdu, Hebrew, Sanskrit, Arabic, etc. If we also include languages from different historic times like pre-classical era, classical era,etc that are used by Mayans, Romans, Egyptians, Indians, etc; the list of number of languages in this world just goes on!! And think about the unrecognized tribal languages !

That being said, I wonder if i utter any random word, say 'blah-blah' might have some meaning in some language :)

Sandy-man!!

Since childhood my favorite super hero has been changing with times. Firstly He-Man, I used to enjoy the way our muscular dude along with his green tiger, takes on the grey-skull. Though I am thankful to Super-man for saving the world, but I am not amused by his abilities.Thirdly the Spider-man, the coolest hero swinging in the air and saving the world with his web. Next comes the Bat-man, I was not able to admire the greatness of this super hero until I watch the movie 'The Dark Knight'.

The pervert inside me often liked the power of hollow man for obvious reasons :)

I also liked fantastic four, for their powers.

After our super heroes, here comes the mutants, X-men. I am an ardent fan of Wolverine, one who has an exceptional healing capability. The power of  Magneto, the ability to control magnetic fields is awesome.

Real cool super hero of our time is iron-man, a playboy, engineer and savior. What else can we expect from a super hero?

But I am most amused by Professor X's ability to read, control and influence human minds, but he is not a combatant.

My ideal super hero should posses the powers of Professor X, Magneto, Wolverine and Iron-man :) And I would call him Sandy-Man :D

Matrix!!

Yesterday evening, when i was walking down in my neighborhood i came across a friend with her cute baby in the stroller. After making weird faces to make the baby laugh, i tried to take the baby into my hands, but the baby was so heavy that i couldn't lift her up!! Only then i realized that it was a dream, but i could feel the weight in the dream.

I latter started thinking about the various emotions/feelings that i have experienced vicariously through dreams. Eating my favorite dessert, peeing in public, fear of seeing a tiger, etc

If only we could experience any feeling through our dreams and control our mind using some software as in Matrix movie, I would always dream about having passionate love, instead of toddlers :)

Respect!!

We do respect elders, for their age, experience and achievements. But when do we respect our peers or younger ones?

10 year old swimmer crossing a river, a friend who has given up lucrative job for social service, a kid who dreams to be a president or an astronaut,..

we respect or admire people for their achievements, ambitions, goals, ideas or principles.

Respect is something that has to be earned :)

Rosalind!!

I happened to come across an article in which the peculiarity of one of the characters in William Shakespeare's play 'As you like it' was described. The character's name is Rosalind. Rosalind is a beautiful young lady, who at some point of time disguises herself as an old man. I know nothing about the play other than this :)

But apparently during Shakespeare's time dramas were performed only by men for some reason !!

Here is why i am amused by Rosalind.

Imagine a young man playing Rosalind's character and the part where she disguises herself as an old man, now our handsome guy has to portray an old man to the audience, with inner feelings as a beautiful young lady !!

I wish i could see such a performance :)
